High School Counseling
Gina Gerrato Greenhaus founded Greenhaus College Consulting in 2011, to assist students and their families through the maze of college admissions and create a winning strategy to successfully transition from high school to college. After visiting numerous colleges and meeting with admissions counselors, she has a well-defined interpretation of what matters most to colleges and how they make their decisions.
Gina takes tremendous pride in her role as a mentor, coach and college counselor for high school students. She enjoys over a decade’s worth of experience working with adolescent youth while advising as a professional counselor with community, school based programs and private practice. Her success comes from developing trust with students, partnering with their families, as well as mentoring and coaching.
Gina is a trained counselor with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialty in working with families, children and adolescents. Her professional experience includes working in a variety of counseling settings with both middle and high school students. She has also completed an Educational Consulting Certificate Program through UC Irvine. Her passion for education and counseling has inspired her to develop a comprehensive college counseling model to help students get on track and discover their future goals. Gina is able to create a supportive environment for students to work through their college applications and essays, with less stress and more success.
In addition to working in private practice, Gina reads scholarship applications for the Hillsborough Education Foundation and Scholarship America. Additional experiences include working as an external undergraduate application reader for the University of California in San Diego, undergraduate division and working as an expert witness in the area of college transfer admissions for a local Law Firm in San Diego. She also spent two years mentoring and volunteering her time with first-generation students at YALLA San Diego, a nonprofit organization. Gina also mentors college students at San Diego State University as they transition from college to the work environment.
Gina attends conferences and workshops each year to keep current with new information and specific programs that might interest her students. She is a member of the Western Association of College Admissions Counselors, Higher Education Consultants and Independent Educational Consultants Association. Gina’s mission for every student she works with is to guide and match them with their best-fit college to allow them to grow academically and personally develop their own uniqueness. Her success comes from her innate ability to establish an alliance with students and gain their trust, as well as from being flexible and focused on the needs of each student.
Gina is originally from New York and moved to San Diego in 1991. She is married with one son and a golden retriever.
